Why Corruption is Encumbrance In Kenya
Corruption is a form of dishonesty
undertaken by a person entrusted with a position of authority, often to acquire
personal benefit. Corruption may include many activities including bribery and embezzlement
or misappropriation of public funds, fraud,
breach of trust, taxes and imposed levies just to mention a few. These practices
are illegal to many countries. Over the past few days we have had more than 5
cases of corruption in one week, this is quite alarming and our economy is
quickly fading out. Some of the cases have been with the NYS, NCPB, Kenya power,
Kenya Pipeline, Health corporations such as NHIF and many more. Kenya’s growth and
development is held back by such cases, there are high levels of corruptions in
every sector of the economy in Kenya such as judicial system, the police, public
services, land administration, tax and custom administration, public procurement,
legislation, natural resources and civil society are some of the sectors in our
country that are rampant with corruption issues. With these issues of
corruption growing each day, our country Kenya has lost its competitiveness, we
face poor infrastructure, increased costs of goods and services due to high
taxes, increased poverty, poor medical facilities and services, no investments
in our country from both local and international investors, high levels of
unemployment, increased crime rate and insecurity, shoddy projects, social unrest
and loss of trust from international people losing out tourists. We all know we
need to end all these before it’s too late, its’ not up to our leaders anymore
but to all of us. We need job creation, economy growth, improved living standards,
improved infrastructure, we need to use our resources to develop our country
and make us proud among nations and be proud of our long lost slang “najivunia
kuwa mkenya” During our forefather celebration “Madaraka” day, our President
appealed to all Kenyans to join him in the war that we have started, to
vanquish corruption and all hail do we all want that. “Runaway corruption” is
the new project for our leaders we all hope this will be put to practice, but
we all know our problem, talk….talk with no action. Millions of Kenyans are
putting their trust on fighting this corruption that has become entrenched in
some of our people. lets join hands and fight this animal corruption

Nice piece...
